Crooked Path's Story

Built in the 1920's by Robert Leonard Tucker and Grace Green Tucker, Crooked Path has been a place where Tucker family generations have come to connect- for many, many years. Whether you are in search of a fantastic location in which to play, or a quiet natural corner to use as a respite, the cottage is an amazing home at which to spend some time with people you love.

Appreciation of the earth, the water, of hard work, the passing of time and the importance of family relationships are all treasured hallmarks of the time we spend at Crooked Path. We hope you'll feel that during your visit.

Cottage Description & Amenities

Crooked Path is a rustic one story cottage located on the largest lot on Thompson's Point. It has a wrap around porch which allows guests to view the NY Adirondacks and Split Rock to the West as well as the Northern Lights, Essex and Burlington to the north. Guests may also enjoy the cottage's rocky shore water access, a nap in our hammock-for-two, or an afternoon of cards and chatting by the geraniums. If your visit includes some cooler weather, the cabin is equipped with a gas stove, board games and a wealth of books from days gone by. A summary of general amenities and bedroom descriptions can be found below.

"The Living Room"- The main gathering space inside the cottage, this room is truly a spot in which "living" takes place. Rich conversation, laughter, play and rest are all words that come to mind when describing the way in which we and our family have used the living room. With a window seat, couch, rocker, organ and large stone fireplace, we invite you to join together- as a family- as friends- as lovers and enjoy your time.

"The Loft"- Located above the main living room, this space has long been a fun spot to stow an extra guest should late night ice cream making/eating, reminiscing or skinny dipping make driving home a less-than-attractive option. Not a place in which young children should play, the loft is at the top of a steep staircase and with the exception of log railings, is open to the main living room.

"Kitchen & Eating Nook"- Equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, sink and eating nook for six, the kitchen is a great spot in which to gather for a meal after a long day of swimming and enjoying the out of doors. See our post on family recipes we've enjoyed at the cottage for some fun favorites we'd encourage you to try.

"Grandma's Suite"-Bedroom One"- The largest of our three bedrooms, this suite boasts a double bed, desk, dresser, upholstered rocker, closet, large windows and an open area (perfect for a pack-n-play if you have a young child with you).

"The Alchove"-Bedroom Two- A cozy double bed room where couple's can enjoy some time to reconnect. With windows that open to the woods on the east side of the cottage, countless lazy mornings have been spent enjoying Vermont swallows, chickadees and woodpeckers as they welcome guests to the day.

"The Twin Quarters"-Bedroom Three- This room, perfect for siblings or friends is located off of the main living room and includes two twin beds, a dresser, a closet and a bookshelf.

"Bathroom"- Functional simplicity is the theme of our restroom. You will find a tub, shower, sink and toilet present here as well as a number of fun posters from the early 40's and 50's.

Meet The Cottage's Keepers

Kimberly Stoerker (right) and Jennifer Scott (left) are sisters, friends, collaborators, pals and teammates. Having moved around a bit throughout their youth, summer vacations at Crooked Path have always been a constant making the cabin an easy answer to the question "Where's "home"?". As summer's visit to Charlotte each year is far too brief, they have found alternative zip codes in which to hang their hats during the cooler seasons. Kimberly in 11215 (Brooklyn, New York) and Jennifer in 23509 (Norfolk, Virginia).

So, what do they do when they aren't basking in the glow of Vermont's evening stars or searching for Champ midst the lake's waves and shadows?

Kimberly is a graduate of the University of Vermont and is currently an Art Producer for a firm in New York City. A true creative genius behind a camera you'll often find her working digitally to capture the moment. From beach chairs to butterflies, nieces to nuances- her camera skills are pretty amazing.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and the College of William & Mary. A long-time college admission dean turned college counselor, she relishes in working with students and their families as they pursue the search for an institution that is the "right" fit. She also strives to be a great friend, wife and to soak in the joy that is seeing the world through the eyes of her 8 year old daughter Gretchen and 6 year old twins, Adaline and Oliver.

Kimberly and Jennifer look forward to hearing from you!
